About service

PROVIN verifies the history of a vehicle before it is imported into the Czech Republic. In particular, our verification checks whether the vehicle actually comes from the country declared by the seller, whether it was stolen abroad, or whether there are other reasons preventing the safe and legal operation of the vehicle.

If you suspect that the vehicle comes from a different country than the seller claims, or you don't want to risk possible confiscation of the vehicle by the police, then have the country of origin verified by our experts.

PROVIN checks:

  • Whether the vehicle was registered in the given country
  • What license plate it was assigned
  • Whether it was duly deregistered
  • Whether it was deregistered because it was totaled, flooded or burned, etc.
  • Real year of manufacture or, alternatively, the year of first registration
  • Whether the vehicle is listed as stolen in the given country
  • For which country it was manufactured

Do you know that 21 % of vehicles imported from abroad are advertised with a false country of origin? Most often these are false claims of German origin. You will find out why and how fraudsters falsify the country of origin in our video.

International OCIS System

The PROVIN service is based on the exchange of vehicle data in the international OCIS System (Open Car Information System). The aim of this system established in 1996 is to reduce automobile criminality. Participating authorities share vehicle information and help each other to track stolen vehicles and return them to their original owners.

The system only enables the exchange of vehicle information, not personal data.

If - when selling a vehicle - someone presents you with a Cebia CERTIFICATE verifying vehicle origin, we recommend that you always check here to make sure it is genuine, free of charge (24 h day, 7 days a week). Unfortunately, every month Cebia discovers an average of 40-50 counterfeit CERTIFICATES.

Verify certificate

The inspection results detailed in a PROVIN CERTIFICATE are delivered to the customer within 3-6 working days after payment for the service and delivery of all documents. We also offer next-day express inspections (see Price list).

We recommend always checking the history of a vehicle. To check kilometers driven, damage history, service history and much more, use the online AUTOTRACER inspection system.

If vehicle inspection reveals facts indicating possible criminal behavior, Cebia is obliged to inform the Police of the Czech Republic in accordance with the applicable laws of the Czech Republic.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the vehicle be checked if I have no document for it?

Yes, it can. We always carry out the verification on the basis of the VIN of the vehicle, but the documents help us to check the technical data of the vehicle. If you have any document for the vehicle, always attach it to your order.

Can I rely on the country of origin information in the Czech technical certificate?

The data is usually correct, but it only informs about the country from which the vehicle was imported into the Czech Republic. They do not tell you whether the car was in that country just a few days before importation and had not been driven for years in another country before that. In addition, in most cases the duplicates of the large technical licence do not even mention the country of origin.

I have a technical certificate from the Czech Republic and abroad, which should I attach to the order?

Attach both. More documents will help us process the clearance faster.

What should I do if I suspect the car has a modified VIN number?

If it is suspected that the VIN stamping or other vehicle identifiers have been tampered with in any way, we recommend a physical inspection of the VIN and identifiers VINTEST.
